Project Manager – Roofing Industry


Location: Texas, USA

Reports to: Director of Operations




Job Summary:

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for overseeing and managing roofing projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to coordinate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams while maintaining compliance with industry regulations.



Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets based on contract scope.
  • Coordinate and schedule project activities, ensuring materials, labor, and equipment are available as needed.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, OSHA regulations, and company policies.

Budget & Cost Control

  • Manage project budgets, tracking costs and financial performance.
  • Approve project expenses and minimize unnecessary costs.
  • Work closely with estimators to ensure project estimates align with execution plans.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

Quality & Safety Compliance

  • Conduct site inspections to ensure work is being performed according to industry and company standards.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and OSHA guidelines, mitigating risks and addressing hazards proactively.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term durability of roofing systems.

Team & Subcontractor Management

  • Supervise field crews, ensuring productivity, performance, and adherence to project schedules.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to foremen and crew members, providing necessary guidance and support.
  • Resolve personnel issues and manage conflicts effectively.

Client & Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, keeping them informed on project status and addressing concerns.
  • Provide regular updates to the Director of Operations and executive team regarding project progress, challenges, and solutions.
  • Work with the sales and estimating teams to ensure seamless transition from proposal to execution.

Procurement & Inventory Management

  • Work closely with procurement to ensure timely delivery of roofing materials and supplies.
  • Track material usage and prevent shortages that could delay projects.
  • Optimize material ordering to reduce waste and improve cost efficiency.

Risk & Problem Management

  • Identify project risks early and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Address any issues related to delays, material shortages, personnel, or unforeseen site conditions.
  • Work with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with permits, environmental regulations, and safety standards.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Willingness to travel extensively, approximately 75% of the time, with some projects requiring long on-site durations.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction project management, preferably in roofing or a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of roofing systems, installation techniques, and materials.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, particularly in commercial and residential roofing.
  • Background in budgeting, contract negotiation, and financial analysis.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing project conditions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project scheduling software (e.g., JOBBA, Procore), and CRM systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, contracts, and technical documents.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel to multiple job sites.
  • Ability to climb ladders and inspect roofing projects in progress.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA and safety regulations in the roofing industry.

Performance Metrics:

Success in this role will be measured by:

Project Completion Rate – Percentage of projects completed on time and within budget.

Client Satisfaction Scores – Feedback from customers on project execution and quality.

Safety Compliance – Adherence to OSHA and company safety standards.

Budget Management – Accuracy in cost estimation and variance reduction.

Team Efficiency – Productivity and performance of crews and subcontractors.
